Brahma Das has traveled extensively, to India, the Middle East and Africa, teaching Yoga and giving discourses on the Bhaghavad Gita and other Hindu scriptures.
Currently Brahma Das assists his long time friend and mentor Swami B.V. Tripurari in running a Vaisnava monastery in the redwoods of Northern California.
Brahma Das responds daily to letters and questions on Hinduism sent in by readers and is recognized for his ability to make Hindu philosophy easily understandable to people of all backgrounds and religions. A fascinating speaker, he is available for lectures or discussions in classrooms and religious organizations in the Bay Area.

Born in South Kanara, Karnataka in 1945, he was graduated by the Ramakrishna Mission Students Home in Mangalore, which emphasized the universal spiritual teachings of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda. In 1973, Sri Eknath Ranade, the moving spirit behind the Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari, selected him to be one of the first trainees of the Vivekananda Kendra, a grassroots social service organization.
In 1976 he took sanyas, and lived an itinerant life for two years in South India. More recently, he participated in the World Parliament of Religions, held in Chicago in 1993.
